I'd not want to spoil things, but you're going to be waiting a little while yet, I'm afraid! She's a unique case, as I said, and getting to that point with her is going to be a very different journey than with the rest of the cast!
This visual novel so far was fantastic...I'm currently playing with the Star child/ Dreamer/ ex pirate arrangement, and also trying to romance Bromm. I got his event (which I feel like is his only event so far?) where he tells us of his past, of the true meaning of the ending of his name. Of what he went through, how his parents did. Even though there's no lewd scenes between him and Rael just yet(unless there is and I just haven't got it) I'm honestly enjoying the slow burn... getting to know him..I also love the story over all. The way that the crew accepted us even despite our past...and other elements that happens in further story
I do wish we had a little cuddle scene where Bromm sleeps over at Rael's room and just...nice cuddles. But I'll be patient! The wait for that big lovable bear is worth it
I also love how he feels so comfortable that he has started to break into his native language with us. Okay...I'm going to stop gushing over Bromm now lmao
Thank you so much for the very kind words! It's lovely that you're enjoying the VN and Bromm; he's an adorable cinnamon roll and he deserves all the love!
There's some Bromm/Rael stuff you can get at present, but you may have just missed it! You'll have other chances though, and there will be much cuddling in the future; promise!
Only the truth! This game is so well made. Bromm must be protected at all costs
And hmm...is there any specific day this happens? And what area may I need to focus on? (Location wise). Because well, I've been trying to focus on Bromm as much as I can...I was able to cook with him, get his event...the space DnD, but have yet to get any um....more than that
And I'm glad we'll get more Bromm cuddles! I look forward to more updates ^^
So I've just realised that I've done something a little silly...I have not downloaded the version 6. So that's why I missed out on some other Bromm content! I didn't realise there was two downloads
I thoroughly enjoyed the extra time we spent with Bromm....it was really sweet. To me, it feels like he's trying to give us an experience that is more... personal. More....mm, romantic? Something more meaningful that the various um...types of fun he has with other members of the crew. It's not dating status yet but...he's making an effort to truly let us in, in a way that perhaps he hasn't done with the other crew
Although this patch has made me thinking more about our temporary passenger. Wondering what he really is...what more there is about him
I look forward to more in September! Ironically this is now two visual novels that are getting updates around my birthday 😂 (VN in question is String Zero... another sci fi, kind of space like VN but more so Sci fi, since we don't leave the planet that we are on)
Hey ! I wondered something about Sam, i tried everything to have time with him but nothing "special" happens. There's nothing a bit more freaky to do with him for the moment ? ^^
There's absolutely more freaky stuff, but Sam's Event scenes are a bit more particular than others because of the way they like to spend their time; their life doesn't revolve around Rael, after all! The right Origin choices help you get things going with Sam faster, but I try not to spell things out for readers here. Half the fun is in the discovery!
Though the other readers on the discord are usually very happy to share solutions, heh heh.
Just to test it out, I spent days 1 through 6 staying inside Rael's cabin, yet there was no reaction from the crew. It would have been funny if, after 3 or 4 days straight of being alone, Zuberi had stopped by to ask why I wasn't socializing with the crew.
It's definitely one of those things I'd like to do if I had more time! There's lots of little interactions (I have a list, actually!) that I want to add later on to further flesh things out, and I'd like to add them if I have a chance before the 1.0 final release. Fingers are crossed I can find the time!
Ah, I see. Honestly, it’s those kinds of little interactions all over the ship that really make me love your game and it's show how passionate you are about it.
I really enjoyed the latest update and that long visit to the observation deck...which, unfortunately, can lead to a lot of drama... I also found it funny that Zuberi lectured us for seeing something we shouldn't have, yet he had no problem asking us to report every move his crew made (good thing we can't say that to his face, lol). Anyway, thanks for the reply, and good luck with the rest of the project!
Hey Faora, I just wanted to report to you a spelling mistake that I had found
Spoiler for day 5:
During Mizz and Rael's sex scene the word lightning is misspelled as lightening nothing major just thought you should know. Love the content thank-you for your hard work and dedication.
Thanks so much for letting me know, and sorry for the delay in getting back to you! It's good to know you're enjoying the project despite these little typos; I'll make sure it's fixed for the next update!
Hello! I had an absolute blast playing this VN! This is so unlike any of the others I have played before. The game feels so interactive in a real way compared to the classic "route" setup that most VN's use. I don't know how you manage to juggle all of this dialogue and keep everything flowing the way it does based on the choices you make (I know nothing about making VN's), but it really just works, and creates this overarching world building feel that other VN's struggle with.
I'm really interested in seeing where this VN goes based on everything that's been talked about already by the crew. It seems like its being setup for something much larger, which I'm really excited to see. I'm also anxious to find out if the crew ends up leaving the ship at some point and we get to see possible world building outside of the ship itself.
Very exciting stuff! Now, I've never seen Star Trek, just bits and pieces, but it definitely seems like it's inspired by it based on what I've seen of it (Star Trek). I have, however, seen Seth MacFarland's "The Orville". As I understand it, The Orville is supposed to be directly inspired by Star Trek. I absolutely love The Orville. I was curious if you'd ever seen it and what you thought of it?
I also had one last question tied directly to the game. I don't know if this is something you want to answer yet or not (spoilers and so forth), but I was curious about the "romancing" of the characters. For this VN, is "romance" or "romancing" being used to describe the lewd and 18+ content, or is there actual, by the definition, romance that is planned on being implemented into this game? So far, I have only really made decisions in favor of Caleia - love her by the way - and because it seems this game is so early in its story, it would make sense not to see anything serious (besides the sex). That is, unless this games 18+ romance aspect is more about the lewd content itself and not really the relationship aspect. I'm hooked regardless, but I was just curious how you were using that word in regards to this visual novel.
Anyways, I'm done rambling for the most part. Awesome job designing this game in such a unique way, and great writing! Especially Obaa. I think you've wrote Obaa *pefectly*. She's absolutely hilarious without being annoying, and even though shes a relatively minor character so far, she adds so much to the game.
Thank you so much for the kind words, Ccopper! Void Dreaming's a lot of work, but it's always wonderful to know there are people out there who feel I'm nailing what I'm working toward!
To answer the first question, I'm familiar with The Orville but I've not watched it myself! I'm not Trek fan (my tastes run more toward Stargate as my preferred sci-fi!) but I've heard wonderful things about it and I probably should give it a look sometime.
And for the second question, the spicier Event scenes that characters have are not specific to romancing a given character. Attraction to a character is what unlocks access to both the saucy content and the "romance" path, but to romance a character in this story is something far larger than getting into their pants. This is unfortunately something that a lot of readers seem to miss, which could be indicative of a problem with my writing or a wider issue with the perception of sexual and romantic relationships in wider society. I can't be sure unfortunately, and I won't have a better sample size until I reach the end of Void Dreaming and get to see how the majority of the readership reacts to the potential outcomes of their time with each character. My hope is that it will be satisfying!
Thanks again for the kind words, and I'm glad you're enjoying Void Dreaming! There's plenty more to come, and lots more Caleia and Obaa for you to enjoy!
Sam pretty much only spends their time in engineering, for starters. They're also one of the crew that you can't spend more than one time slot socializing with. At the moment, you pretty much have to start with the spacer origin to earn enough approval from them to bang Rael as well. You also need to have seen their first event scene on day three, so you'll have to decline meeting with Anwill that day in order to go see Sam instead.
Phoenix beating me to the answers by minutes! Hopefully that answer helps; the Discord is also full of readers who are happy to help in that regard, too!
The largest furry vn (i think), I'm amazed at how much Faora writes and you can feel that dreamer nature in the world they create.
The vn doesnt simplify or chew information for you, it makes you remember lore details by keeping them at a normal quantity and repeating the names of places and concepts. And I personally like that I need to google a lot of stuff to get more comprehension of what's going on, there's a lot of complex sci fi things. The dialogues are filled with tension, emotions, it's always a fight (in the best sense). The story isn't shy of big turnovers, doesn't let you get bored a little. It made me get interested in sci fi even though I always avoided it, made me think and dream a lot. And for what I like adult furry vns like this is that they can toy with questions/issues any other media couldn't.
Also, one of the things void dreaming warmed my heart with the most is how it narrates games. The way characters act when they play (the best way to flesh out a character imo), the way the games work in their futuristic world, wows.. And countless choices make it feel like you really play with them.
Thank you so much; I'm so glad to have earned such high praise from you! It's not an easy project to write for, but it's always good to know that I seem to have done a good job with so many!
I enjoyed that this lets you build your character so much. And wish you the best with the work, eagerly looking forward to more of it in the future.
That said I have one small issue to raise. I was playing V0.05.01PR so this may already have been addressed. In which case appologies for the repeat bug report.
Day 1 after the first bridge duty, I had Rael hang out with Mizz and learn more about them. Mizz revealed who their dad was and his parents/his link to gaming as a family before fixing the gamesoft for them.
It then feels odd that on Day 5, when I got an "Event" conversation with Mizz after hanging out with them in the gym. That Rael says "I don't even know who your father *is*." Given that it was kinda a big deal on Day 1 and had Rael calling Mizz royalty it seems wrong to have forgotten that in the intervening days.
Oh gosh I stumbled upon this vn on complete accident, and I gotta say that it's quickly made its way into my top 10! Very fun characters (Mizz and Sam are my favs), and I absolutely ADORE all the opportunities the game gives to define Rael. Makes everything more engaging and encourages me to spend time with other characters!
Happy to see the new update out! Keep up the great work!!
Thank you so much, Purple; I'm really glad to hear that you're enjoying the story so much! There's a lot more update goodness to come, and I hope I can continue to earn this reaction all the way to the end!
The rest of the game is great, but that one part is so dumb and annoying.
"Oh, we won't have sex yet because you're something special" he says before running off to blow Bromm. And if you try to confront him - you get repeatedly told off for not being a good little cuck, and even receive a death threat to your face from the sociopathic captain.
And you don't even get to push back on any of this, you just sit and watch Rael suddenly act like a doormat with no agency, sending a message that it's you, the player, who is wrong for not wanting to be cucked.
When you commented about this a year ago, I explained how you'd misinterpreted things. I also suggested that I wouldn't engage any further, and yet you've returned with your same grievance. You're also presenting your read on the situation as authoritative, when you've framed the circumstance in question falsely. It makes it very difficult on my end to be measured and diplomatically since, as has been done in another comment here, you're essentially twisting my characters and the circumstances in a public forum.
I recommend again that if you're this upset with Void Dreaming to channel that energy toward any number of other, wonderful FVN projects that you might actually enjoy. If you want only to revisit your frustration here on a regular basis I sure can't stop you, but I'll only have so much patience for it. No one is going to force you to read something you abhor, and I'm sure your time would be better spent praising work you enjoy than to come back here and revisit something you do not and vent your frustrations in public.
As my (hopefully) final word on the matter, as the writer in question and in response to your last line: you're welcome. I hope you can find enjoyment elsewhere.
People who disagree with me, or have criticism of my work, are completely valid! We don't learn and grow if we're not willing to entertain the thoughts and feelings of those who disagree with us. The difference is only in the method of critique and the validity that it implies.
As for the numerical matter, I'm aware of that but appreciate the warning nonetheless! As an 80's baby who's seen plenty of usernames with a date of birth in them however, I'm not the sort to immediately castigate someone like that until I can be certain it's anything more than innocent coincidence. I try not to assume malice if I can help it! Something that, admittedly, is growing harder in this day and age.
It wasn't related to my age, though it wasn't far off. The number was added absent-mindedly, just to avoid having to check for available names on an already popular site.
I had no idea it had any special meaning for someone. I'm going to assume it's some sort of americanism, since I have never ran into it before. I removed it just to avoid provoking anyone in the future.
I'd love to add that I'm not this and that, just to put the issue to bed, but itch will literally block me from responding to this if it detects those words. So lets just say I'm not subscribed to any hate-fueled ideas.
I'm obviously an annoying stubborn jackass, but I'm all for equality.
Back then you didn't give me a good answer, I just grew exasperated with your unwillingness to even entertain the thought that you might be wrong. Pushing further would have been rude. I still don't want to be rude, but this feels important for me to try and get through to you anyway.
No, I get it, you can't be held accountable for every possible reading of your text.
What I'm saying is your intended meaning for this situation is simply NOT in your text. I have genuinely tried to look at it from your angle and I do not see it. Nothing points to it. Your replies are the only thing that points to that reading at all. I am clearly missing something and I think it's your perspective. So the way I see it, you just didn't convey it properly in the game, thinking that your perspective is universal and would fill in the blanks. Me stumbling over this at all says it's not.
This needs addressing. Please.
You said:
Mizz at every point where sexual matters come up with Rael before this expresses his interest, but also his restraint. There's no notion of romantic interest discussed, and certainly after two days of knowing him that's a bit much to ask from anyone. Mizz doesn't propose any exceptional arrangements, and neither does Rael. There's interest stated, and borders posted.
"There's no notion of romantic interest discussed" is such a wild thing to say about two adults aggressively flirting for two days straight. No, people in that situation do not need to beat each other over the head with "I like you and want to be involved romantically, lets be a thing!",
because it's implied. Big part of flirting is implying things without saying them out loud.
Mizz saying "There's something special about you", ESPECIALLY as it follows "I want to fuck you, but I don't want to rush to fuck you" is an admission of romantic interest over plain carnal interest, and without him mentioning anything else about his other arrangements, it is an unvoiced promise of an exclusive arrangement. Both in our world and the one you describe in the lore so far. The world of Void Dreaming is not so overwhelmingly polyamorous that it would be completely alien to the reader. People get into exclusive arrangements, people have expectations of exclusive arrangements. And they flirt normally, without taking a break to explain their hints and body language in plain words.
So no, this it not some wild reading of mine that Mizz leads Rael on, it's on the surface, right there in the text.
With all due respect, if you intended something else - you have failed. I beg you to see it.
I'm sorry, but you speak of a lack intentional writing for what the writer implies, and later in the post claim that there was an unspoken promise between you and Mizz. You cannot have your cake and eat it, too. Mizz and Bromm have had time to develop a relationship like that since before you joined the crew, and you cannot expect him to suddenly go monogamous with someone who just showed up and is *starting* to develop feelings for. That is a selfish and short-sighted reading.
Sorry, we're here continuing a discussion that was started a year ago, you're out of the loop and just haven't seen that I've addressed this before.
I'm not asking to change anything, just add a couple of lines - Mizz acknowledging that he is not offering an exclusive relationship to Rael and he's messing around with someone else would be fine(other characters give you a fair warning, there's no reason why Mizz shouldn't).
The problem isn't that Mizz is polyamorous/polygamous/whatever, the problem is that not mentioning that little fact while coming on to Rael comes off as manipulative and insincere, which was not author's intent, as far as I can tell.
They are just being intentionally dense about how poorly that part had turned out, readily accepting praise, but ignoring criticism. I like their writing, but I'm massively disappointed in them as a person.
Let's drop the passive-aggressive, shall we? It's exhausting, and there's only so long I can respond politely to someone behaving in a rude manner (as you'll see momentarily), and I intend to drop this matter after this response.
I am not responsible for how satisfying you find my answers, only for the provision of those answers. You raised a concern, I explained how you'd misread the text and admitted it could be my fault as the author, and polled other readers to see more opinions. I determined the fault was in your reading, not my text, based on that polling. You have clearly held on to this discontent for an entire year, which is unhealthy at best.
What you seem incapable of realizing is that no one else in the community is reading this the way you are. The implication that not only the author is wrong, but also the entire rest of the readership save for you and you alone, is arrogant and self-entitled. The irony that your tone implies that I'm the arrogant one for failing to recognize your superior literary analysis is not lost on me.
I am not going to address the problem because there is no problem here to address. I have made many mistakes and cocked up many things, both in this project and in many others over the decades, but casting my net for a wider source of critique of the scene in question sees you standing alone. The problem is not the text. The problem is your reading, and that is not something I have the power to fix.
You are not my editor and you are not my co-writer. You are a reader, immensely valued and very appreciated, but a reader nonetheless. You can like my work, or you can leave it. I know I can't please everyone and I don't even try. Some people will enjoy what I do. Some won't. I'm going to do everything in my power to create something wonderful that means the former outnumbers the latter by orders of magnitude, but I will not compromise my characters or my creative and narrative vision for any single reader, especially not one with such a jumped-up sense of self-importance that he feels the need to hold a grudge against a single scene for a year and vent that grudge in this public space.
I appreciate and respect that you care enough to be this up in arms about one scene in a VN that you otherwise seem to enjoy. You have not, however, presented an attitude worthy of consideration, a critique backed by common opinion, or any special insight or discovery that requires me to alter my approach to my work. Certainly the implication that you and you alone have the narrative literacy and literary wisdom to fix what's broken in my work is a feat of ego worthy of legend.
So to your issues with the scene in question, as I said at the top: No.
This matter, from my perspective, is closed. I've spent far too much time that I could have used to work on the project on this instead, and I am very glad to put it behind me. I suggest that you do the same.
They said, before writing a character assassination essay on me.
I read the entire thing several times and I have just one question.
Was it really easier for you to write all that, rather than rubber-ducking that scene just once to check if it actually leads the reader to the conclusions you want it to lead them to?
I went into this novel with no expectations and dare I say it's turned into one of my favorites.
The cast here is SO MEMORABLE DUDE!!!! Zuberi, Sam, Bromm were my favorites and even Caleia grew on me too. Obaa also had me fucked UPPP this entire VN laughing bro 💀. The cast is funny here and I ate every minute of it up
The choice system is super cool here too. I really liked how Rael is very knowledgeable, and you choices do make an impact in the story. And speaking of the story, I like every little twist and turn it presents.
I never got bored while reading, and was super sad when It was over. A testament to how attached I was. Excellent work man keep it UP!!!!!
Thanks so much for the kind words, Milo! I'm really glad that you're enjoying the crew of the Dreamer, especially Obaa. She's a riot to write, I can assure you!
And no need to be super sad for much longer; the public build and Patreon builds both update this coming weekend, so there's a lot more to see just over the horizon now. Hopefully you enjoy it just as much as what's come before!
This game has been in my Furry VN collection Bag that I keep for a long time hiding in plain sight, a few days ago now I've finally decided to give it a go, made it past the first part of day two. And Whoa, it's been a long time since I've not wanted to put down a VN, especially a character focused one. I tend to be more one for Psych Horror and such (Echo, Arches and Soulcreek my beloved) , but this game has truely intrigued me and left me wanting to know as much as possible about the Crew of the Void Dreamer.
Tulemeni is my favourite, I don't think I've wanted to be friends with a character more in my life hah. And I will not say more here since it'd ruin the fun for people who havent yet spent more time with her.
Thanks so much for the kind words, and for giving Void Dreaming a read; I'm glad that you're getting invested in it! Psychological Horror isn't a genre I'm particularly into, but I'd be lying if I said that sci-fi didn't have a lot of horror baked in if you're unafraid of exploring it, heh heh.
Also always very glad to hear that Tulemeni's getting some love! She's such an interesting character to write, so I'm glad that you're enjoying her; hopefully her journey is one you find satisfying!
I'll be honest, i had an amazing time reading the story, i love the characters they are incredibly written and have a lot of personality. Last time i had such an amazing time with any VN was with Dawn Chorus and Our Life:Beginning and Always, (I hope it's not an issue i'm mentioning them here).
I genuinely adore the story and characters present, I'll gladly wait for more updates cause ngl i was distraught when i reached the end of current update, cause i need more MORE.
Once again amazing work you all pour into it and i wish you all the best.
(also is there a way to transfer saves to a new update? Asking for future me, thanks in advance).
Thank you so much for the kind words, and I'm glad you're enjoying it! I have a lot of fun with these characters so it's always nice to know people are appreciating them. And no worries mentioning other projects! They're my peers, not my competitors!
Your saves should be intact as long as you overwrite the old install with the new; I admit I don't actually know how Ren'py handles save integrity. Its pretty robust though, so you should be fine; let me know if there's any issues and I'll see what I can do!
And hey, if you really need more right now, the Patreon's got an update coming... oh! Today! Just in case you're looking to get to the next day (and a bit more) a little early!
I'll for sure mention if i have any issue with saves if such problems occur, but it's nice to hear that saves overwrite themselves.
Speaking of Patreon i was considering it and honestly i think i will support this project for sure, (at least for this month that is lol cause i'll see how many expense i'll have next month). Though probably later in the day cause at the time i'm writing this it's a bit after midnight so yeah... I should get some sleep i suppose.
Anyway, have a nice day and i'll for sure follow Void Dreaming cause i'm having a blast reading the story as i mentioned earlier and i would love to see this project develop, so once again all the best, and take care you all <3.
wow, this is a really nice story, the characters all seem to have actual depth to them, and it's nice learning more about them.
One technical request, and I don't know how hard it would be so feel free to ignore, but some way to add a note to save files would be nice for keeping track of multiple run throughs
I must say this is one of the best written and crafted FVNs I have read to date from the characters to the world. You can feel the love and care put into everything, from how character stories interact with others and events still play out even without you. For instance if another character moves to the place you were interacting with another it makes a note of it, and if the event causes something to change that is reflected in later interactions.
Thank you very much for the kind words! It's a lot of hard work to make all the variable choices work together, but I feel like the effort's worth it to make something that feels truly reactive and organic. It's always nice to know someone thinks I've pulled it off, and I hope you continue to enjoy what I've got in store!
I'm glad you like Rael so much; he's a lot to write, I can assure you! As for the main menu screen, I'm going to have to disappoint you, I'm afraid; that's just a distorted reflection thanks to warpspace!
Hello just finished the vn and i like everything about it. The characters, story and the information about the world is amazingly written, i can't for the next update.
On another note, does anyone know how to get both scenes with Caleia on day 5.
Thanks so much, I'm glad that you're enjoying it! I try not to give instructions for how to see specific content since I feel like the fun is in finding it yourself, but there's plenty of readers on the discord who I'm sure would be very happy to assist!
an absolute godly read, i just get a bit overwhelmed with all the choices, i wish there was a way to tell what the optimal relationship picks are for each, my favorites are bromm and zuberi.
Thank you so much for the kind words! The choices can be very daunting, I don't doubt. There's no wrong way to make your path through the story though, and I've tried to make every choice and every outcome feel satisfying, so hopefully that helps you worry less!
Amazing VN, you know one clicks with you when it leaves you wanting more, I binge read it in 2 days.
It sort of reminds me of Mass Effect with the way you socialize with your crew mates only here it leans much more heavily in that direction, which I can totally get behind since those were the best bits in that franchise. Tulemeni, she's definitely the most exotic and alien crew member of the bunch, even more robotic that the ship AI. At the same time she's strangely soothing, talking to her puts my mind at ease like the song of a siren... Rael himself realizes there is danger in interacting with her in her virtual realm. I hope to learn more about her as the story progresses. Caleia, she's a huge hardass and yet her characterization ensures her attitude never feels out of place or outright detestable, she's hard to love (not for me though, I'm working towards that if you catch my drift) but you get why she acts the way she does, and while she may come off as purely antagonistic at first she actually provides a useful counterpoint to Zuberi's rationale. I mentioned Mass Effect earlier, well if Zuberi and Caleia played it, I bet he'd go for the Paragon route and she for Renegade for sure lol. And finally, there's the marten boy, I just wanna give him a big ol' hug and protect him.
Rael is a cool MC, I like his levelheadedness, he's a good soldier (not to mention dashing of course). While the player does have leeway in his characterization he never feels like a blank slate but more like his own character which is my preferred way of handling MCs to be honest. I picked the colonial administrator backstory, the moral conflict it provided made Rael an infinitely more intriguing character than he otherwise wouldn't have been without (I have yet to try out the other backstories so I can't judge those). Let's hope to God that's the last impossible decision he has to make, one is enough for an entire liftetime.
Vallhund is a great artist, his style is very easy on the eyes, great work by Rico too with that background art, it really sells the whole sci-fi aesthetic. And the writing speaks for itself, I found myself agreeing with the author's mentality more than once, like, you know when sometimes you read a VN and the direction it goes in leaves you frustrated a-la "I would have done it differently"? It's like this guy read my mind on multiple occasions. I especially liked it when you can turn down a certain someone's "reward" offer: accepting it while he was down on his luck and essentially being desperate would have been really fucked up (if any of you reading this took him up on it you're a monster lol).
Generally speaking, the characters behave in a way that is mature and I can't thank the author enough for that, I hate seeing characters especially adults act like high schoolers.
Can I also just say how much I appreciate the adventurous nature of this VN? Many VNs gravitate towards slice-of-life and romance, and while there's absolutely nothing wrong with those genres I'm looking for something more which this VN has given me. While reading this I found myself immersed with the endearing characters, the sci-fi worldbuilding, the military or adjacent attitude we see throughout the story adequate to the running of a ship, be it sailing the high seas or the stars above.
Great VN, I'm pleased and eagerly awaiting the next update. You have my most heartfelt rooting, go Team Void go! Or is it Team Dreamer? Ah you get it, love y'all, respect
Goodness, thank you so very, very much for the incredibly kind words! There's so much here and I'm incredibly grateful that you seem to be enjoying it so much. There's even more on the Patreon if you're inclined and able to help support the project, but even if not there'll be a lot more fun to come here; I hope to entertain you for a long time yet!
wow i downloaded this game coz i was bored and tbh wasn't expecting much (not a reflection on this page just the mood i was in at the time) but this game really blew me away....it has a way of making you feel like your choices (both background-wise and in-game) really change things and i'm really impressed with the characters, story, and art.....was genuinely gutted when "to be continued..." came up on the dialogue bar and am on the edge of my seat for the next update
Thank you so much for the kind words, Hat! I've put a lot of work in to make sure the choices all feel good, so it's very encouraging to hear your praise for it. And hey, if the To Be Continued line bugs you, the Patreon is always there with upcoming content early!
I've been chasing a certain character and after seeing an event in day 3 I actually got mildly upset and had to turn the game off xD. I've been rejecting everyone else and specifically romancing this one character the whole playthrough and then suddenly I need to bleach my eyeballs. Like I'm pretty woke in real life but in games and media I am TRADITIONAL; why are you with someone else rn and not me? Actually pissed me off so bad because if we're just hooking up with people and not getting married i may as well not have been rejecting people and going for this one character "save myself for you" sort of mindset. I'm so pissed im probably just restarting and switching to Tulemeni because she deserves love, but i swear if i walk in on her having relations with someone that's not me I will not be able to handle it bruh.
Thanks for the insight, all of what you wrote gives me some idea of what to expect in regards to the "events." The last paragraph is especially cringe for me because, in my experience, i do tend to chase the worst people without even realizing - whether it be naivety or pure stupidity. That is to say, growing up for me was not falling in love with DL men lol (I live in red south). I guess thats reflected even in my furry VN somehow.
I'm sorry that this has upset you! The nature of the setting is a lot more loose and free regarding sexual activity than is often seen in the current real world day, and the characters of the story have existing dynamics and situations that have nothing to do with Rael. Rael is the lead character of this story, but he's not the centre of the universe. The crew do not exist to revolve around him; the story's not about that.
Regrettably, if you're upset by the members of the crew engaging sexually with one another absent your involvement, Void Dreaming may not be for you. Fortunately, there are many other FVN projects that will no doubt be much more pleasant for you, and I wish you good luck in finding one you enjoy!
I will point out that the other person who responded to your comment was factually incorrect about a number of things. I'm not inclined to go point-counterpoint since I'm certain their tastes and values are colouring their experience to the point where they're actively making up scenarios that never existed in the written text, but when they're going to go ruining people's perceptions of my characters when they're making shit up? I'll step in to at least point that out. Quite irritating.
The ace Rael option was definitely included for those who wanted to consider that option, though. It's always good to see it getting some use!
Yeah I'll be honest this kind of threw me for a loop. Especially after getting many events with them and all the signals and honestly that was going down I was like oh they are super interested in me now I'm doing it right especially after a very specifically vulnerable event and then you see 'that' scene and boy it shattered my hopes right away. I love the characters and the story and everything but I'll admit it instantly decimated my want to keep trying cause I feel like a side piece to everyone at that point, like a little extra fun but not important even if their words say farrrr different. Anyway, still good stuff just probably too depressing for me.
I'm sorry that this has caused some frustration for you! If this is the circumstance I think it is, then it's not supposed to be able to happen; there could be a programming fault in there that I need to address to prevent the scene in question from coming up after such an important Event scene. If that's what's happened, I'm doubly sorry; it'll be fixed in an update for sure!
I mean yeah if it's not supposed to happen after all the conversations you have with that specific character in the cargo bay then it would definitely lift the malaise that hit me after. Cause all the words exchanged and the honest feelings made it feel like they are super connecting to you and you are meaning more than just the initial scene. If it's true that it's supposed to disable that other scene if you made it that far with them, then I certainly would be a lot happier to continue.
gonna throw my hat in the ring and say why not give us an option to disable voyeur scenes? I personally would prefer such an option but its not a deal breaker for me
Of course this could present some dissonance with the narrative especially with Mizz and I am no programmer either so not sure how this would work in regards to coding
Ultimately I dont see such an option harming the story as we already have an option to get rid of sex altogether its just that this particular act can leave a sour taste for a lot of people and be potentially triggering for some even if the character isnt actually cheating
You already did a great job on making it extremely easy to not accidently romance characters we dont want to romance (bg3 at launch was notorious for having this problem with Gale) why not make it just as easy to avoid scenes like that
There's already an option for the reader to not get involved in anything that other crewmembers are getting up to; Rael can leave before anything is discovered. The option is there for that reason, and I can't see a need to add anything more than that since if the issue is not wanting to intrude on private moments, it's already covered. If the issue isn't that you can see them and more that they're happening... well.
I've heard that some people take issue with those scenes because they consider it cheating/cuckolding content, and to that I disagree firmly. Even if you remove the notion that the setting is far more sex-positive and easy-going with such things, at no point in any Void Dreaming content available right now (and potentially for a long time) is Rael in a committed relationship with anyone on the crew. If people want to call that cheating, that's their prerogative, but I've no intention of trying to meet every requirement for every potential reader. That's impossible, after all!
As ever, I heartily encourage people who think that Void Dreaming is not for them to simply stop reading. There are many other wonderful FVNs out there that may not rub them the wrong way, and if not I equally encourage them to perhaps create something of their own and share that with their own audience. I'm not going to yuck anyone's yum, but I'm also not going to bend to the desires of every reader who takes issue with an aspect of my work.
It depends, actually! The amount of effort is variable, but as a general rule, it takes about two or three sessions to see development in a single specific skill. It might get changed up eventually based on feedback and the way it feels by the time the 1.0 release eventually arrives, but we'll see!
So far one of the best VN that I have seen as of late. Rael has to be one of my favorite MC by how well he's written and how rich his background building can be made(Sorry, Nick, but Super Nova has been on hiatus since 2024)
Still, bit of question here.
BIG SPOILER
Is the whole biolock/Carrison disease thing a relevant part of the plot, or is just a lore tidbit that was added in as part of the main character background?
Because I was merrily going trough Sam route, when I stumbled upon the line mentioning and all what it implies, and honestly, the whole thing gave me BAD vibes. I thought, that, if its just a background thing, it could be made into a yes/no background thing, like the sex/asexual thing, or every of the background picks, and the bit of convo on Sam's bit be omitted if the MC picked "yes, I have a biolock" (and no Carrison disease); on the same way, he could say "I had a biolock set at my 20-ish" when meeting the Captain.
But then I thought again. It may be a significant part of the plot/relevant plot-wise later, so it may be a thing of waiting and seeing. Still, reading that line felt dreadful. MC cannot live as long as the crew? Yep, he's gonna be killed off as per the plot at the end. Of some similar event.
The whole biolock thing (or the lack of one, actually) feels more dreadful than the whole pirate affair, IMO, and makes all the romantic interactions feel sorta...pointless?
Sorry if I'm not very articulate as I write this, as I'm not exactly very fluent on English.
In any case, whatever happens, I wish the team the best of lucks on the VN development.
Hey, and thank for your words and your thoughts; it's very much appreciated. And don't worry! Your English was absolutely fine.
Obviously I can't give too much away given the potential for spoilers, but I'm sorry that certain aspects of Rael's existence aren't working well for you. I do wonder if getting the information you did when you did may have coloured things, or if you may have picked up something that I didn't intend, but Rael's certainly not in any danger of dying anytime soon (not from natural causes, anyway!). Maybe by the end of the story you'll have a clearer picture of where this has all been going, and I hope when you get there you find the conclusion to Void Dreaming to be a satisfying one.
Thanks again for taking the time to share your thoughts, and I hope you continue to enjoy Void Dreaming!
I mean, what I take is that he potentially won't live as much as the rest of the crew. And that's the sort of thing that pisses me off (quite a lot). In a sci-fi scenario where everyone can live centuries, if not more, the MC being restricted to the default for no good reason (aside "character building") leaves a sour taste, at the very least.
And makes pursuing any love interest, well, completely irrelevant. Since the MC isn't supposed to live as long as them. Why bother on the first place?
It's a bit of a prickly subject, for me in particular, or perhaps my brain is too nitpicky on some details that are actually not very relevant. Again, if this detail is related to the plot in more depth, I won't pry further to avoid spoilers.
I see two very important sides of this; the first is agreeing with you, in that it really creates a barrier between Rael and everyone else, since it sounds like everyone else either has or will have many biolocks in their life to extend out for centuries, while Rael may potentially be forgotten or never truly valued.
The second, however, is much more romantic in that because Rael won't live that comparably long, his time with the crew will hold that so more significance. After all, knowing he won't live as long as everyone else will make him appreciate the day to day happenings on a much deeper level than anyone else on the ship, and perhaps in turn result in the crew viewing him with a greater level of respect.
That's the painful point. I wouldn't bring myself to truly love someone if I would know that it won't be more than a fleeting thing. Love requires commitment. Why care so much if the guy is going to die in a few decades?
Also, I call bullshit on the whole biolock thing. Were I on Rael position, and given the overall advancement of technology that the VN seems to have, I'd do anything to keep myself alive. BY ANY MEANS necesary. Making a clone and transfering the mind. Making a bio-synthetic body and doing a similar process, copying the memories into a synthetic brain and putting said brain into a synthetic body lookalike of myself. ANYTHING.
That said, I've been seeing a pattern in a lot of VN, and the biolock thing seems to follow a...unfortunate trend. The idea of taking away the player's/MC agency to put the MC an echelon down than the rest of characters, who are not subject to the same disadvantages. I see this as a bit of a shared knee-jerk reaction to the "power fantasy" trope seeing on other VN, but overall, at this point, taking agency away in places where isn't very impactful, seems irrelevant, and just makes the reader feel worse.
I'm glad to hear you're enjoying the story, Vundorm!
I was tempted to make Rael's name something the reader could change when I started out, but I decided against it. You're inhabiting Rael in this story and guiding his choices, but Rael's his own character and I felt in the end that leaving his name as it is was the best choice narratively. I hope it doesn't negatively impact your enjoyment too much!
Question. So far, we’ve been allowed to flirt with multiple crewmates and develop relationships with them all simultaneously, but will there ever come a point where we are made to, so to speak, lock in and choose one? Or is polyamory possible? Should you commit to one person?
Second question. Are events day locked? Or can they trigger later? For example, I am pursuing Bromm and Anwill on one playthrough. I promised I would meet Anwill after and did meet up with him on day 3. In doing so I missed the chance to speak with Bromm in the infirmary and trigger an event with him as they share this time slot. Will this event trigger again another time? Or is it something I’ve forever missed?
For the first question, you'll always (if you're pursuing romances or not) wind up gravitating toward one crewmember above all the others. This won't lock out any intimacy with other crewmates before the lock-in, but if you're messing around romantically with compatible crew, you may be able to leverage that into a polyamorous situation. It'll depend on if the crewmembers are compatible with both each other and Rael, though, and that's much later in the story yet!
And for question the second, Event scenes do have limitations to them and some are very specifically locked to certain days. Most Event scenes, however, are viewable within a set timeframe. As the story goes on, you may start to see why they're structured the way that they are; it's a very complex web of potential. But Void Dreaming is made to be explored multiple times and in multiple ways, so just because you miss something on one run through doesn't mean you'll miss it in another!
I really liie this vn, but I just wanted to ask if there were any planned 1 on 1 scenes for Bromm? I really like him, but I wasnt finding any 1 on 1 with him. Is it just in development or does he just need more time with MC to be like that?
When you decide to go to Sam's area during the 3rd day i think and see something you arent meant to. Its like "ok yea ill take my leave" BUT WHY IS OUR CHARACTER SO CHILL ABOUT IT??? Its the first time we see something like that and out of everyone its SAM the dude who acts hella antisocial with others. And the worst part is on the same day Zuberi comes to our door to get a run down on our spy work? I dont know if im being dumb but my personally, id think about it slightly and my view on them 2 would change for the worse (not in a bad way but like its constantly on my mind) making certain interactions awkward)
I get that there are bigger fish in the sea to worry about BUT THATS A BIG FUCKIGN FISH
You're certainly not being dumb; your insights are going to inform how you enjoy any story! The setting Void Dreaming takes place in is pretty easy-going about sex, and these two have known each other for quite a while. Things make sense from their perspective, even if Rael, and you, are an outsider to it. How you feel about it is all up to you, though!
And thanks so much; I'm glad to hear you think Void Dreaming is peak! I hope to only make it even more awesome as time goes on!
i am glad i let this one somewhat marniate after last time i played, each day is a wonder to play through. Theres like nothing for me to complain about.
Thanks so much for the kind words! I'm glad that you're enjoying Void Dreaming, and by all means, take your time! I try to make sure every update is packed full of stuff to enjoy, but you're not wrong; the longer you wait, the more there is!
10/10. The writing is great on this, you got the sci-fi techsciencetalkythingies down great. I appreciate that you're not using filtered photos as backgrounds (All VNs should strive to have custom backgrounds). Also like the lore-building and character design.
Thanks so much for the kind words, Nein! I do love me some good worldbuilding and technobabble, so finding the balance between it and being coherent is always fun! Rico also does amazing work on the backgrounds for Void Dreaming; I'm sure he'll appreciate your praise and I'll pass it along!
Just finished, I was originally fully in on either Sam or Tulemeni, they were both the most interesting, but GOD if Anwill didn't show up and just steal the show 10/10 I cannot wait for what comes next. Also if you EVER do another cliffhanger like that I will die
I can't make any promises, but I'm glad you're excited for what comes next! Patreon has the full Day 5 experience now (and starts Day 6 soon!) if you can't wait another month and a bit!
Just finished day one and I've gotta say, this is one of the best visual novels ive ever played! The characters and artstyle are so well fleshed out, and the language is just understandable enough to make someone really get the "sci-fi jargon" thing work well. Absolutely stellar 5 stars
Thank you so much, Mechasauras! It's only going to (hopefully) get better from Day 1 for you; I hope that I continue to maintain your confidence and enjoyment moving forward!
Goodness, thank you so much! That's very kind of you to do, and I'm incredibly grateful for it. Void Dreaming is so much work, but knowing people are enjoying the project makes it all worthwhile. I hope I continue to maintain this high standard for you!

I tried everything. Is there any scenes with Tulemeni?
Not as yet! Tulemeni is a unique case among the crew and a very slow burn, so you'll have to put in more work with her over a longer period!
Any hint to when her scenes get added or guide?
I'd not want to spoil things, but you're going to be waiting a little while yet, I'm afraid! She's a unique case, as I said, and getting to that point with her is going to be a very different journey than with the rest of the cast!
Is it bad that I only recently noticed how long Brommka's hair? Mane? Fur? Is? Like it's nearly as long as my own!!!
No, a lot of people miss his glorious hair!
Oh, well then! Looks like you've got more to discover now, heh heh!
Hey, hope you're otherwise enjoying the VN!
Hopefully you've been enjoying the story anyway!
And yes, the story is 10/10
Hey Faora, I just wanted to report to you a spelling mistake that I had found
Spoiler for day 5:
During Mizz and Rael's sex scene the word lightning is misspelled as lightening nothing major just thought you should know. Love the content thank-you for your hard work and dedication.
Thanks so much for letting me know, and sorry for the delay in getting back to you! It's good to know you're enjoying the project despite these little typos; I'll make sure it's fixed for the next update!
Does anyone know how to get the scene with zuberi? I can get him to trusting but don't know how to actually get that scene to trigger
You need to see him on the bridge at the start of day 5 and do his event scene, then go down to engineering at the start of day 6 for the smut.
Sorry, been a busy couple days and I didn't get to answering comments here! Pheonix has you covered though, and I hope you enjoy what you find!
This is so peak i love it
Thanks so much! I hope I can continue to earn that high praise!
How exactly do you trigger Sam's NSFW scene? I spent all my time with Rael trying to find Sam, but I still couldn't do it.
You need to try it!! I can't stop reading it
Thank you so much; I'm so glad to have earned such high praise from you!
Thanks so much for the kind words, Rygel! I'm so glad you're enjoying the story, and I hope I can continue to entertain you moving forward!
You've definitely caught an inconsistency there, thanks for pointing it out! I'll see about getting that fixed in a future update for sure!
Does anyone know how to trigger the Mizz&Bromm voyeurism scene? I can only get the nsfw scene with rael&mizz lol.
It's pretty early in the piece! As a hint, just make sure you're heading to Observation... and don't let yourself be waylayed by any martens!
That'll do it, I'm pretty easily waylaid by a certain marten. 👀
Still fuming about Mizz cucking you.
Cool, thanks, writer.
I respect that you find the time to respond to even your critics.
I would also like to inform you that someone with 88 in their name is declaring their affiliation with that big villain of WW2.
For me anyone with 88 in their name is persona non grata.
No, people in that situation do not need to beat each other over the head with "I like you and want to be involved romantically, lets be a thing!",because it's implied.
TL;DR: No.
>Let's drop the passive-aggressive, shall we?
Well done, truly well done
Thank you so much, Red! It's good to know my character writing practice seems to be paying off nicely in this project!
That's not a bad idea, but a bit beyond my abilities at present. I'll look into it though, and might see what I can do to implement that!
This is my favorite protagonist from any FVN I’ve played recently. They’re just so well-written! Can’t wait for the next update. I need more Rael!!!
Just out of curiosity — does Rael’s white-haired form on the main menu mean something? Any hints? (No worries if you can’t say!)
I'm glad you like Rael so much; he's a lot to write, I can assure you! As for the main menu screen, I'm going to have to disappoint you, I'm afraid; that's just a distorted reflection thanks to warpspace!
No worries! Thanks for replying. I still love Rael, and I’m looking forward to the next update!
Ok
an absolute godly read, i just get a bit overwhelmed with all the choices, i wish there was a way to tell what the optimal relationship picks are for each, my favorites are bromm and zuberi.
that aside, i loved reading this a LOT!
Thank you so much for the kind words! The choices can be very daunting, I don't doubt. There's no wrong way to make your path through the story though, and I've tried to make every choice and every outcome feel satisfying, so hopefully that helps you worry less!
It does lol, ty
I did eventually find my way through their two routes
(I cannot wait for A Scene with Zuberi)
working through different routes on day 5 atm....do i perhaps catch an Adastra reference? :0
Excellent taste, my good sir (and Zuberi and Bromm, of course. Who wouldn't cry at the ending =w=)
The quota has been met!
I just wanted to say, seeing Anwill fly off the screen every few seconds had me in TEARS ToT, I LOVE this update!! xD
I'm glad that worked! I thought it was a funny idea but I wondered if the execution would work for the gag!
I love it so much! ╰(*°▽°*)╯
Thanks so much for saying so! I hope that I can continue to entertain you as the project develops!
PS - love that fuckin rabbit
Thank you so much for the kind words, Hat! I've put a lot of work in to make sure the choices all feel good, so it's very encouraging to hear your praise for it. And hey, if the To Be Continued line bugs you, the Patreon is always there with upcoming content early!
More Sam love is always good, too!
what an excellent idea! i shall be joining shortly
Oh goodness, thank you very much, then! Any and all support for the project is very appreciated!
Mini vent and Mild spoilers:
Thanks for the insight, all of what you wrote gives me some idea of what to expect in regards to the "events."
The last paragraph is especially cringe for me because, in my experience, i do tend to chase the worst people without even realizing - whether it be naivety or pure stupidity.
It's actually really good so far I think. If anything I'll just be asexual to experience the story - i appreciate the option to do so.
I apologize if that's the perception it gives. Rather delete the comment than misled people.
Again, I an unlikely to have the full picture on the scenario.
Question; when, or how many times do you have to improve a skill for the level to actually go up?
POTENTIAL SPOILERS?
Continuing your spoilers:
Neat game will definetly be watching with interest
Could we also get an option to rename Rael at some point? I understand completely if you dont want to add that it's your story afterall
It is very much a preference thing and I can always just make edits to the files with notepad++ if I care that much
Ah, all of this is so exciting. Love the VN it’s amazing, your writing is great, and the variety of choice is lovely.
Even if I am lowkey driving myself crazy trying to optimize. :p
Just can’t help it I want to see everything and have the best of everything.
Spoiler kinda
I really liie this vn, but I just wanted to ask if there were any planned 1 on 1 scenes for Bromm? I really like him, but I wasnt finding any 1 on 1 with him. Is it just in development or does he just need more time with MC to be like that?
I can confirm that that is on the way, and you don't have too long to wait. I'm glad you're enjoying him so much, and the VN
Spoilers (Also peak VN)
Finally made an Itch account purely so I could rate this 5 stars and leave a comment here as well!
I am in love with this VN already, everything about it is so charming and engaging - the characters, the tone, the plot, the art etc...
And the writing straight up just slaps - keep up the great work, it's absolutely incredible so far!
Goodness, thank you so much! That's very kind of you to do, and I'm incredibly grateful for it. Void Dreaming is so much work, but knowing people are enjoying the project makes it all worthwhile. I hope I continue to maintain this high standard for you!
