Update Build 0.04.03
Well, this has been a busy week. Hey there, everyone! Faora here!
A week ago, Day 4 and Day 5 hit Itch and the Patreon respectively, and... well, that didn't go so well. I think that the vast majority of the bugs have now been ironed out, and with the 0.04.03 Itch build released just now, one last little issue (specifically regarding Mizz's Event scene calling for a variable not available in the current build) should be resolved.
I'm sorry again for any inconvenience or irritation caused by the state of the initial Day 4 release. I need to be better, and I just wasn't. For the last little while, I've been doing everything but the art and music for Void Dreaming, and that includes the testing. Unfortunately, due to the scope of the project and my own fraying ability to juggle figuratively all of the metaphorical balls, I am literally losing my mind at my inability to keep up. And, of course, the longer we go the more complex Void Dreaming becomes. Lots of variables need to be considered, and any one of them could scuff a release and go unnoticed by my eyes alone.
To that end, I've drafted a shortlist of people I'd like to forward versions of the Patreon builds in advance of its release over there, to ensure that the vast majority of bugs can be fixed before they even reach the project's supporters. Between that and the few months before it makes it to Itch, that should allow for more of the issues that make it through to be caught before it arrives in your collective paws. Hopefully.
I need to be better, as I said, but it's clear that I can't do everything alone anymore. There's no pride or ego at play here; I clearly need help, and in the interest of maintaining accountability and transparency in the spirit of how I've done with this whole project since launch, it's fair that I let everyone know my plans. So, to that end, a list!
- Additional test readers. This will keep me from having to do all the bug-hunting and text-scouring that I have been so far.
- More rest time. I've been pushing myself too hard. I have deadlines and goals to reach, but I can't reach them if I'm exhausted.
- Refined release process. In conjunction with the test readers, a new process has been devised that should let me update to new releases more cleanly than I have in the past. Day 5 for Itch will be a big test of this, but I'm confident.
That said, the project remains on track and on schedule. There's no breaks, no hiatuses; nothing at all of the sort. I'm still working, and I will continue to work as hard as I can to make Void Dreaming the project that it deserves to be. For those who I've frustrated, I'm honestly, deeply sorry. For those who've expressed kindness and understanding, I am incredibly grateful. For those supporting the project on Patreon, my gratitude overflows; you're helping so much more than you know in getting the assets together to make this project what it is. Thank you.
For now, I'm not going to do any work for a little bit. I'm going to do some grocery shopping, play some video games, have a cup of tea, and chill. I don't know if I deserve it, but I'll be damned if I haven't earned it.
Until next time, stars guide you.

i just want to say that you are doing great with this novel. this truly is something else <3
Thank you so much Aseros, it's very kind of you to say! It's a lot of work, but knowing people enjoy it gives me more than enough reason to keep going!
Wow, you deserve some love after that one. Day 4 was so surreal, like so many aspects of the story finally clicking. Thank-you for the amazing content.💙
And thank you for the kind comments on the subject! Day 4 is really just the beginning; we're barely a quarter of the way through Void Dreaming now, and it's only going to get (hopefully) cooler from here!
Take your time! 💛
Most kind of you to say, but I've a schedule to keep! Can't have you all waiting for future updates now, can I?
No one deserves a break more than you, please take more! The scope of this project is astronomical and I'm glad you're going to try sharing the load. Rest well!
I wish that I could, but I clearly cannot. There's work to do, and if I don't do it, who will? Still, you're not wrong; I'm definitely trying to take more time for myself, but every minute I do that is a minute I'm not working on Void Dreaming, so there has to be a balance somewhere. Hopefully I find it soon!
