Crew Feature - Sam

Hey there, everyone! Fae here, with the lastof the crewmember features in the leadup to Void Dreaming's initial launch! We're mere hours - less than half a day! - away from the initial release now, so I hope that this whets your appetite as we race to the finish line. Or... this first finish line, anyway.

And who better to finish things off than the crude, rude, and antisocial tooler of the Dreamer herself, Sam! Let's get into it!

Name: Sam

Species: Rabbit (Alchestan)

Physical Age: 158 Standard Years

Biolocked Age:  34 Standard Years

Gender: Non-Binary, Masc-Presenting

Homeworld: N/A - Spacer

Role: Chief Engineer

Acerbic and antisocial, Sam does not put a good foot forward with those who they meet. The rabbit does not like people, pure and simple, and attempting to force the issue with them is just all the more likely to earn their ire. If anything, Sam is even quicker to anger than Caleia; while the vixen whom they served with for many years in the ASF requires a reason to get her hackles up, simply being in Sam's presence is enough to frustrate the engineer. Well, with a couple of notable exceptions.

Rounding out the trio of elder members of the Void Dreamer crew, Sam holds the award for longest serving member of the crew outside of Zuberi himself. An old, old friend of the wolf's, Zuberi and Caleia are the only two people on the crew who don't irritate Sam the moment they enter the rabbit's periphery... sometimes. Not even old friends are immune from Sam's vitriol, and the vast majority of complaints to Personnel Management at the AG regarding the experiences of crew on the Void Dreamer have been due to Sam's corrosive nature. Sam, of course, doesn't give a damn about any of that.

They're aboard for only one reason: Zuberi needs them. The Dreamer is a complex ship, and a worthy challenge for a tooler of Sam's capabilities. They spend almost every day tweaking systems, calibrating modules and pushing the Void Dreamer to her absolute peak. Whether the day is successful or not, something that's always to be expected is a string of expletives that echo off the dark corridor walls of the lower deck. Sam's cries, either of victory or of frustration, are a constant companion for anyone going downstairs on the Dreamer.

But scratch away at that crass, harsh exterior, and you might catch glimpses of a very different person beneath. Sam's honest and utterly fearless, doesn't dish out anything that they can't take, and plays as hard as they work. Given the right circumstance, this rabbit can really let their ears down and cut loose, as long as you can keep up with them. There hasn't been anyone yet in their experience who can, but who knows? Maybe Rael can be the first.

And that's it! That's your crew of the Void Dreamer, all touched on and... what's that? I missed one? No, I don't think I did. I don't think I forgot any... hmm? What was that? Oh, you mean him, don't you? Well, he's not a part of the Dreamer's crew. If you want to learn a little more about him, well... you're just going to have to wait, aren't you?

Within the day, we'll be back again with the release post containing what to expect, where you can get even more than what's available at launch, and an idea of what we're looking forward to as we move forward and toward the next part of Void Dreaming. The next part, and your chance to meet him, of course.

Until then, stars guide you.
